Sacred texts: No one book, many Hindu and Buddhist teachings changed for Western people's acceptance.

Theism: Varies: Mostly Pantheistic (all is god), some polytheistic (many gods)

Salvation: To become one with all by self-realization, inner divinity, and personal transformation rather than redemption from sin through an external Savior
Background: Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen in an American pantheistic package. New age is a term popularized in the mid-1980s to describe a "human potential movement."
The new age has: No scared books, no moral code. No need for a Holy God. Most of the New Age blames the ills of the world on Christianity.
Beliefs: New Age Attributes of: God : pantheistic, God is everything, thus men are gods, -polytheism.
Jesus Christ: a Guru, one many enlighten ones ( was in India and learned to be a guru
Holy Spirit: if any belief, it is just a force, an influence of a cosmic mind.
New Age Nature of:
Man: a god, but must learn he is a god, bad things stop him from experiencing his oneness with earth - god - cosmic mind.
Sin: Man is basically good but has bad things from past lives.
Atonement: No need for forgiveness, one works for freedom from past.
Salvation: New age seeks enlightenment, not salvation. Enlightenment comes thru Mediation, yoga and other experiences, see below. Goal nirvana-clear-higher plane.

Scientology/Dyanetics: A new age type group, teaches Reincarnation, and has endless counseling to find (and fix) your past lives.
