Faith-Nature

God of the Bible

The God of the Bible is so Powerful and Loving, sometimes we can miss the true nature of His character.

Failing to grasp the true character of God, like His grace, holiness, power, love, mercy, transcendence, and immanence, transdimensionality, extra dimensionality, and nearness, can result in a distorted view of God.

This distorted view of God can cause fear or lead to legalistic faith. The Bible is clear that faith should be founded in love and trust. Thus, the transformation (good change) is from a motive of love, not fear. Without understanding His character, one may miss the purpose of suffering (see Pain and Suffering in Light of God's Love and Power page.

The greatest failure is to think that God will judge everyone someday on a scale, as you find in courtrooms. If this were the case, no one would be able to go to heaven (the Bible also calls this the New Creation, see Rev 21). Why? God is completely Holy (thus no sin or human imperfection can be in His presence). Humans are both sinful in action (sins) and in thoughts (the Bible calls this "sin nature"). If someone says "I am not a sinner", ask to put the question to their spouse, if not married to a family member or a close co-worker. I can be sure they would not agree. We are not perfect. See the Pain and Suffering in Light of God's Love and Power page as to why God would create us with the ability to do evil and cause pain in others. So, in front of God, we do not want justice! Justice is "getting what we deserve". Reminder: God judges not only every action, but also every bad thought and motive we have had. See Proverbs 16:2, Ecclesiastes 12:14, Matthew 12:36.

So no one is good enough to get to the New Creation that the Lord Jesus Christ has been preparing for the last 2,000 years, see John 14:3 and Romans 3:23
Then how can anyone get there?

God offers His Mercy: Mercy is "not getting what one deserves."

But, God is a God of great love and compassion; to those who are humble enough to receive it, He offers what the Bible calls "Grace".

Grace is "getting more than what you deserve".

Ephesians 2:8-9 states it this way: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Saved: We do not get the justice we deserve. not by works: no one can earn the free gift he offers

The Bible states that this offer of mercy and grace is given to everyone and is found in the Person of Jesus Christ. See Revelation 3:20, 2 Peter 3:9
